Ampeleia was born in 2002 from the collaboration and friendship between Elisabetta Foradori, Thomas Widmann, and Giovanni Podini.

With this projects they want to reflect the diversity of Roccatederighi, a particular area of Maremma (Tuscany).

The estate is situated in mineral-rich hills, has different altitudes, an incredible variety of soil and microclimatic conditions. Thanks to this they are able to farm specific grapes varieties that can shine the estate philosophy through: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Alicante Nero (Tuscan biotype of Grenache), Carignano, Mourvèdre and Alicante Bouschet. They mostly use concrete tanks so to not impart any vessel flavour and get wines of great elegance and finesse.

To be able to respect biodiversity the estate has many hectares reserved to other cultivations.
